Mantle Security Controls - Time Outs
Mantle includes time outs as a security control to protect the data it holds in case you step away from your computer or forget to log out.
After a period of inactivity, your Mantle session will time out, so that no one else can access your account, if they use your device. After a session time out, you will need to log in again to access Mantle.
If you, or your users, are experiencing a high number of session time outs, it may be worth reviewing potential environmental or device-related contributing factors.
Below are some common factors which may impact session continuity. If you have further questions on these, you can raise them by logging a ticket.
Common factors which may impact session continuity:
- Multiple browser tabs or windows - if using several tabs or windows at once, activity in one may not count as activity in the others. Each tab may have its own session timer.
- Closing a laptop lid or putting it to sleep - this may suspend network activity, causing the session to appear inactive.
- Screen saver or power settings - devices entering low-power mode may suspend browser communication with the Mantle server.
- Browser settings or extensions - certain browser privacy settings, extensions, or auto-suspend features (like tab hibernation) may pause background activity, even if the page remains open.
- Network changes – losing signal or moving between networks (e.g. office to home, or Wi-Fi to wired) can interrupt a session, which may then time out due to a loss of connectivity
