Valuations Overview

This section sets out guidance on setting up a valuation on Mantle. Actuarial calculations run straight from the administration calculations. For a valuation, Mantle makes some assumptions about the future and then simulates an administrator “pressing buttons” as they administer the scheme going forward. Before you can run a valuation you must:

Have data on the system. No data; no results
Have benefit calculations programmed up
Have set up the actuarial “tick-boxes” (see Guidance on the actuarial set up)
Consider cleaning the administration data
Set up a valuation basis
Adjust valuation results by arbitrary amounts

Once these preliminaries are taken care of you can run valuations:

Run a basic valuation
Run daily valuations
Quarantine daily valuations

There are a variety of tools available in Mantle to assist in thoroughly checking valuation results and analysing unexpected results.
